Wonderful Flowers

Given by Ritz. Thanks a lot for sharing this with me, Sis. The flowers are lovely as well as the poem that came along with it. I really like it.

It's true I have never seen you
and we have never met,
Never shaken Hands or
even truly hugged and yet!
I know for sure you care for
me by the kindness that you give.
And our keyboards keep us
together doesn't matter where we live.
So I give you this gift to
put a smile on your face
and to let you know in my
heart you have a special place.

Golden Gate Bridge

Monday, July 21, 2008
The Golden Grate Bridge spans the entrance to San Francisco Bay in California. It is one of the world's largest suspension bridges. The total length of the bridge is 2,737 m. It also considered to be one of the most beautiful and busiest bridges in the world.

The bridge was open to traffic on 27 May 1937. The bridge carries two six-lane highways and pedestrian paths. Unusually, the bridge is double-deck, carrying traffic one way on the upper deck and the other way on the lower deck.

The Eiffel Tower

Saturday, July 12, 2008
The Eiffel Tower in Paris was 312.2 m high when it was first built. An antenna brings it up to 318.7 m. There are 1665 steps up to the top. It was made from 18,038 pieces of iron, held together by 2,500,000 rivets. It was built in 1889 for the exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Gustave Eiffel (1832-1923) was the most successful engineer of the day, building not only the Eiffel Tower but New York's Statue of Liberty too.

Paris's Eiffel Tower is one of the world's most famous landmarks.

Sydney Opera House

Saturday, July 5, 2008

Sydney Opera House in Sydney, opened in October 1973, is one of Australia's best known landmarks. The design by Danish architect Jorn Utzon was agreed in January after a competition involving 233 entries, but it took 14 years to build. The radial sail-like roofs were said to have been inspired by sea shells. Inside there were originally four theatres - the Concert Hall, the Opera Theatre, the Drama Theatre and the Playhouse.
