Sticks and Stones Can Break My Bones, But a Fall is Even Worse!

Thursday, September 30, 2010
I had a scare the other day when mom and I went out for our daily stroll. As usual, we were chatting away with each other, discussing our upcoming trip to the capital city and the possible outcome of my most important mission while there. But we were yakking so much that neither of us were paying any attention and mom stepped in a small pothole and tripped, tumbling over on her side.

Initially, she was in great pain and at first I thought she might have broken her hip. After a couple of minutes, though, she insisted on getting up, and with my assistance she got to her feet and all was well, other than a large bruise she discovered after we got back home.

This incident, however, did get me to thinking. Mom’s not getting any younger - sorry mom! - and as us women age, our body’s ability to absorb calcium is greatly compromised, and calcium is of the utmost importance to bone density and health. And, as always, since I love to surf the net so much, that sent me scurrying down the halls of cyberspace in search of the best possible calcium supplements. Though she does take her vitamins faithfully, as far as the calcium is concerned, the more, the merrier. And I certainly need her by my side when I embark on my great adventure to the big city, so I’m going to give her a heads-up on the info I discovered just in case she goes clumsy on me again and falls down and goes BOOM! LOL!

Which Way to Go? You Best Look Before You Leap

Wednesday, September 29, 2010
For those who are having difficulty in losing those excess bulges that they have, it would be nice to know what is the best weight loss pill for them to use to help get rid of those bulges right away. A lot of people have found these products to be the quickest way to lose fat, but the question is, with the many diet pills being sold on the market today, what's the best choice?

I guess the best thing to do is just ask people who have tried and tested a certain diet pill. In that way, you can find out if that particular one is worth the time and effort to try. That would be less time involved and less money wasted, too, as well as less disappointment with the results. Research before you buy.

Touched By An Angel

And so have you, Honey...

My fiance' sent this today and after seeing the e-mail, I was like, what's the occasion? Maybe there's one but I just forgot. But nah...no occasion at all. My Honey Bunny fiance' was just being so sweet again as always. He loves giving me surprises and this is just one of the many surprises he had given me. And as he always says, there will be more. Hmmm...just what I like because I love surprises a lot too! (",)

Got Any Ideas?

Sunday, September 19, 2010
Do you have any idea of what’s the best weight loss supplement on the market today? You might wonder why I am asking this but I just want to help a friend who wants to try some out but has never got the guts to do so. She’s been battling with excess weight for years now. She used to have a normal weight but as soon as she gave birth to her first child, losing weight has been a big difficulty for her.

After months of trying to lose weight by being watchful of her diet and exercising, nothing happened so she is now thinking of trying diet pills. She just doesn’t know which one will best fit her needs. Maybe you have something in mind that you can recommend. I know we could just browse online and choose one but we would prefer something that is recommended.

She's a Beauty

I was talking with my fiancé on Skype earlier when he heard a knock on the door. On answering it, he was so delighted to see his only daughter, Tonya. I got to chat with her a little on Skype, too, but not for long because she had just dropped by to return the cup she borrowed from her dad.

I really find her pretty though she did ask me, since I have such a small physique, what was my secret in keeping my figure. I'm happy to know that she is being health conscious, though I do believe the fact that she has a new boyfriend might have something to do with that question.

I know she rides her bike a lot, but I still gave her the basic lecture about getting plenty of exercise and watching what she eats. But I also told her that if that didn't work, she could do some research online and find the most effective diet pill to aid her in the quest to shed that excess weight the fastest way. I wished her luck with that, as well as with her new beau, and I can't wait to meet her in person so we can have a real girl-to-girl chit chat about all these things; especially about the boys since we really couldn't go there since her dad was listening to us. LOL!

If All Were Only So Simple

Saturday, September 18, 2010
It’s been three years now since I started blogging but I still can remember my first few days in the blogosphere. On the second day, I had already offered my website to a free directory submission so it could gain more readers, thus getting more traffic. It is one tool for a website known all throughout the world wide web. It may sound complicated but actually it is not. Submitting your site to one is easy as 1-2-3. Instructions are provided at the website and are made simple and clear for you to understand and follow.

I was naïve during those early days but with the help of a friend, I got through it. She was also the one who told me about submitting my website to a free directory. And now, I’ve reaped the benefits and I can’t thank her enough.

Our Favorite Durian Fruit

I've always been vocal about me super liking the fruit Durian. A lot of people don't like the fruit because of its strong smell but trust me, just cover your nose and eat and for sure, you will be addicted to it like me. Hee hee.

The the one we just bought. That's almost 3 kilograms.

And that's my son who likes the fruit as much as I do. (",)

I'm A Pig For Pasta, But Don't Look Like One

Friday, September 17, 2010
I visited a friend yesterday and we had a snack after her office hours. We sampled a newly opened snack house whose specialty is pasta, my fav dish. We had spaghetti for the both of us and we each had a glass of iced tea to pair it with. The room was full when we arrived but gladly, a couple stood up as we came in so perfect timing.

There was a group of ladies sitting beside us and though we didn’t want to eavesdrop, their voices were just so loud we couldn't help but hear their conversation. They were talking about their figures and kidding each other that how they wish the food before them was one of those foods to burn fat so they wouldn’t be adding to their problem. Hearing that amused me. I am lucky I don’t have to worry about such because I am skinny; always have been; and always will always be. (“,)

I'm Happy That My Bod Makes You Happy

Thursday, September 16, 2010
My fiancé always teases me that it's lucky for him because he won’t have to find the best diet pills for women for me because I'm so tiny and petite. I’ve always been like this and as far as I know, it’s just perfect since I am also short. My weight is just right for my height.

Him teasing me like that just amuses me. He’s skinny too but not as skinny as me. He can be described as lean, or as he likes to say, lean and mean. But he likes my being small; he considers it sexy, so I will keep my figure this way because what woman doesn't want to be sexy for her honey? (",)

He's Hardy and Healthy

Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Lean and mean. I am talking about my fiancé who has always been lean, but not mean, okay. I just tease him like that sometimes because he likes to call himself lean and mean. There’s nothing true about the mean thing, I just like listening to it rhyming with lean because he really is lean and in good shape. And he’s been like that his entire life. Being so, I guess there’s no need for me to look for the best weight loss pills even if I do feed him a humongous amount of food because even if he eats a lot, he really doesn’t gain weight.

He would look skinny to you at first glance but once you see what’s behind the shirt, you would see how lean and tough his body is; that’s what he's gained from the rigid exercise regimen that he's followed over the years – one of the many things that I admire in him.

Little Kitty

A Hello Kitty key chain! This is the other gift that I received from my fiance' on my birthday recently. When I saw it, I was wondering how come he thought of giving me one. So I asked him and that's when I remember that I am his little kitty. LOL. Yeah, he either calls me his cutie little anghel or cutie little kitty. He haven't called me that for a while and so I forgot. My oh so worsening memory gap. LOL.

It's a picture frame too. I am just waiting for the pictures that he's going to send me that were taken in his vacation here and I am going to put one in there.

So cute!

Users Are Losers, But There Is Help Available

What could be sadder than when you learn somebody is addicted to drugs and that that somebody is a relative of yours. Seeing him on the way to destroying his life right before my very eyes was really heartbreaking, as well as seeing the effect it had on his family. But that was a few years ago, when my cousin was so into it that he would even steal just to support his addiction. Gladly, he is okay now and is living his life the right way once again. He was able to regain his health and life, and his dignity, after being treated at a drug rehab.

And we can’t thank the drug rehab enough. Their goal of helping those in need of addiction treatment is simply admirable. And despite the failing economy, many drug treatment centers are opening up to help those who need their services, one of which is Portland Drug Rehab. They’ve already helped and given their service to the needy and their goal is to help even more of the afflicted.

Portland Drug Treatment Center is known all over America for providing excellent and dependable service so you can never go wrong with them. You may visit their website for more info just in case a loved one or somebody you know needs help. Addiction facts are also provided at the website, something that is worth reading to understand addiction and how to spot it and fight it.

I Get Great Glee From Giving Gifts

Sunday, September 12, 2010
Gift giving has always been fun for me. Shopping for the gifts alone is already exciting, and when I see the glee on the person’s face I'm giving the gift to, the joy I feel is unfathomable. It always feels good to put a smile on someone else’s face. And in return, it is heart-warming to be given a gift. Not just because of the material thing but the fact that you are being thought of which makes you feel so special.

And that’s what I felt with the gifts that I’ve received from my fiancé on my 35th birthday. He simply made my birthday extra-special. I've got a feeling that he got them from RedEnvelope's black Friday deal page since he had mentioned it before, but I'll never be sure since he won’t tell me even if I ask him a million times. He can be so stubborn, but I'll break him of that; eventually (",)

The gifts were simple yet well thought of. He definitely melted my heart. Thanks again, Honey! Mwah!

Incy Wincy Spider

Mr. Spider paid us a visit last week. My son saw him in our bathroom like you see in the picture but I was really wondering where he went through. The window in the bathroom has a screen and there's no hole in there whatsoever. He could only make use of the door but it is always close. That left us wondering but anyhow, we just left him there. I told my son not to touch him. And after like two days, he just vanished without a trace. That left us wondering again. (",)

That's the spot where he stayed the whole time until he disappeared - near the outlet in the bathroom.

A closer look at Mr. Spider!

You Get What You Pay For, So Pay For the Best

Thursday, September 9, 2010
Our family’s safety is, and always will, be our top priority, no matter what. Be it at home or anywhere, and most especially when traveling, things can happen. Accidents are an inevitable part of life and they can occur anytime, anywhere and, more so, when we least expect them. That being so, thinking of ways to prevent accidents from happening should be highly prioritized.

Speaking of which, safety equipment can and should be considered. It is one way of protecting your vehicle, thus protecting your family. As has been said, prevention is better than cure. That is especially true in areas that experience adverse weather conditions such as snow and ice.

And one brand that is known for providing quality equipment, like snow chains, is the Pewag line. Their prices may be higher than others but their products have been tested and proven to be of high quality, making them a big name in the market. But they’re not all about chains or tire chains. They offer outdoor gear too such as tents, sleeping bags, cots, etc. You may want to take a look and see what they have to offer.

I Can't Wait To See That Show

Monday, September 6, 2010
What I speak of is the home and garden show in my fiancés home city. There I'll see one of the many marketing strategies that I believe is very effective, trade show booths. They never fail to catch my attention at the malls, on the sidewalks, and especially at trade shows. When at the mall, I am always drawn to check what those booths are offering. And it's often crowded because people really get curious.

Everything is shown in such an organized manner. They make use of simple tables with table skirts, some very elegant and even personalized with company logos, placed in pipe and drape booths and set up in a very professional way. At the annual home and garden show in my fiancés home city at their civic arena, his stepson always sets up a booth to promote his custom deck building business, with great success, I might add, and my fiancé usually helps him do his set up and presentation. My fiancé has also visited many trade shows in regard to his work so he is very familiar with the concept.

And those banner stands that I see almost everywhere all over the city and in the malls are a head turner too, especially when there’s a popular face on them like that of a celebrity. These advertising tools are what many businesses now use to advertise their product and one reason for that is the unlimited advertising it gets since they can strategically place them in high-traffic areas. They definitely are essential to making products and services known to possible customers.

Without a doubt, I will use these effective marketing tools once I get my business started. I'm sure my fiancé would be happy to share his expertise with me, wouldn't you, Honey? And I'm sure when you take me to my first home and garden show after I get there, you'll let me spend to my heart's content to turn our home into a kingdom for your li'l queen.

Birthday Presents from... Who Else?

No less than my fiance' whom I call BA or Honey Bunny. These presents arrived in the early evening of my birthday. I actually thought he has totally forgotten about it but nah, he will never forget it. I am just so nega. Hehe.

He ordered these things online. There was a chocolate mousse cake (my fav!), a hello kitty key chain (he sometimes calls me his li'l kitty. hehe!) and a birthday card. It didn't have his penmanship in there though since he only sent his message through email to the online store.

There they are. The yellow container is where the key chain was placed.

Can you read the message? (",)

Wedding Bells are Ringing!

Saturday, September 4, 2010
My sister-in-law already has their wedding invitations ordered and they will be delivered by October. Their wedding is in November so that’s just the perfect time to have the invitations delivered to those people that will be invited. I can’t wait to see the finished product since I also shared my wisdom on how the invitations should look.

Also, I will be helping my sister-in-law put on the address labels that I suggested to make the invitations nice and neat. She thought of just writing the names of the invitees but I insisted on the address labels and I know she’ll be happy with the results. It’s the thing that I will for sure do on my wedding invitations and I am certain my fiancé will surely love it.

Soft Cushions For My Soft Li'l Tush (",)

I’ve been talking here about my fiancés house renovation that he started over a month ago. So far, so good, though he thinks it will still take him about a month or two more to finish everything. He has to work on it alone most of the time since his stepson can only help from time to time because he is busy with his job and business, and my fiancé has his job and other responsibilities to attend to so it's a weekend endeavor for him.

This weekend, he is planning to look for nice outdoor cushions for his patio furniture. Though the furniture is two years old, it is still in good shape. The cushions are not that bad either but he wants to match the new cushions with the lounger that he has his eyes on. All will be arranged in his back deck – the place where we will hang out soon to chitchat and a barbeque. That will be so nice and I can’t wait for that day.

Wild and Wooly Critters

Ain't he cute? Here in the mountains of Western North Carolina he's a common critter and we call them wooly worms. They're also known as wooly catepillars or wooly bears. As a kid, it was always fun to pick them up and let them crawl up and down your arm. Sure, the bristly hair would tickle but that was the fun part.

Old folklore has it that the harshness of the upcoming winter can be predicted by the color and size of their bands. According to legend, the Native American Indians taught the pioneers how to do this. Supposedly, if the brownish red bands are thin, then it's going to be a harsh winter. But if the brownish red band mostly covers the middle, then it will be a mild season. Of course scientists consider this to be total hogwash, however there are those who claim an 85% success rate in predicting what lies ahead. But hey, just like letting them crawl on you for the fun of it, this kind of amateur prognostication can be fun too.

What many don't realize is that the wooly worm is just a stage of development in the life of this critter. As a worm, it certainly is cute, but later on it turns into a beautiful Tiger Moth.

We actually have an annual Wooly Worm Festival here in the mountains where one lucky participant will win $1000.00 for correctly predicting what winter holds in store for us by using the wooly worm's weather forecast. Now all I need to do is go out and start searching for one of my li'l buddies, and not only create my winning entry, but enjoy a little nostalgia as I let him crawl all over me. (",)

Hubba, Dubba Dubba, I'd Look Great in Scrubbas!

Friday, September 3, 2010
My two brothers are registered nurses and I would have been one too if I hadn’t changed my major. I began my college years studying nursing but decided to change my curriculum after figuring out that it wasn't the career that I wanted to pursue. Had it been that I had continued that route, I would now be sporting women scrubs which are getting trendier as time goes on .They used to look so simple and dull before, but not anymore. Thanks to those who thought of such fashionable designer scrub uniforms, ladies who work in the medical profession will no longer be left out when it comes to fashion. And those medical scrub hats sure do look cool!

There are no regrets on my part though that I didn’t follow through in that line of work. Anyway, I can buy myself a scrub set anytime and wear them at home. They would be perfect for lounging around in.

Every Home Needs a Woman's Touch

It’s been a month or since my fiancé started renovating his little domain, getting it ready for my arrival. But as of yet, he still has miles to go. So far, he’s repainted the living room, the bedrooms and bathrooms. He still has to change the carpet in the bedrooms which he is planning to do this weekend. After he's done with the carpeting, his next step will be to start repainting the kitchen as well as changing the counter tiles. He already has something in mind on what tiles to install and he opted for a glass mosaic tile. He has seen how lovely it looks in his stepson’s kitchen. Good choice, Honey!

I guess he won't be done before our arrival. That's no problem, though, since I so badly want to help him. I've never tried anything of that sort, even painting, and I think it will be nice to give it a shot. Besides, I want to put my own personal fingerprints on things, working together with him to create what will be our own special little kingdom.
